Lifeline Christian Counseling Center

Nowhere is making a fresh start more relevant than in the office of the Biblically-based Christian Counselor. Helping people make U-Turns in their lives, with the direction of the Holy Spirit and the guidance of His Word (the sword of the Spirit) is what counseling exists to do. If new beginnings were not possible, and lasting change to go with it, there would be no use in providing counseling at all. A good illustration of this is the total ineffectiveness of secular psychotherapy. Void of God’s Word and His wisdom, secular help provides no real answers and no lasting change. As Henry Brant says, the world’s therapy can provide only temporary and fleeting “relief “ from discomfort but never any real transformation. That involves the heart, which is always the target of Biblically-based counseling and is God’s primary focus for us. “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).

In Isaiah 55: 8-9 the Lord says “My thoughts are not your thoughts and My ways are not your ways”. And we could quickly add …”and My economy is not your economy”! A few months ago as Jack Wolf prepared us for communion one Sunday he talked about “what a deal we got” at the cross. How true, and a perfect example of God’s economy. When you think about it, God’s economy is all or nothing. We are either His adopted son’s and daughters who will sit at His banquet table every day for eternity (Romans 8:16,17), or we are His enemy upon whom His wrath will fall (Colossians 1:21). We have either eternal life through Christ, or eternal death separated from Him. This truth is, of course, is the most wonderful news for those who know Him and therefore motivates us to earnestly share the gospel with those who do not yet believe.

Because of God’s sense of economy, a totally transformed life is not only possible but it is God’s constant work in us through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. It is His greatest desire for us. Jesus said “I have come to give you life, and to give it to you abundantly” (John 10:10). While He withheld Abraham’s hand from his own son, He did not withhold it from His only begotten. At such priceless cost, He wants us to enjoy truly abundant life NOW, and for eternity. You do not have to wait, and putting off abundance is not what the Lord desires for us.

In Biblically-based counseling the Christian Counselor sees things that no psychotherapist ever sees. He sees miracles. She sees changed hearts. He sees transformed lives. If the Lord has prepared a heart to receive the truth of His Word and apply it to their lives, then miraculous things can and often do happen. When hearts change, lives change. And forever…

The Lord uses many methods and people to transform lives. Biblically-based counseling is one of the ways He brings about U-Turns in the lives of His children.
